Spike Jonze (born Adam Spiegel), is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker, producer, writer and actor who has earned numerous awards and special trophies (like an Oscar®) for his work in the fields of music video, skate video, feature filmmaking, documentary filmmaking, and film acting.
Having made a bunch of skate videos in his early days, and co-founding Dirt magazine, Spike went on to direct, and subsequently become almost infamous for his creatively genius music videos for the likes of Weezer, Biggie, the Beastie Boys, Daft Punk and Puff Daddy in the Nineties. He then went on to create feature films such as Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Her, and MTV's Jackass, for which he was an executive producer.
Spike has made a very significant impact on Nineties and Oughties kid culture through his brilliant and oftentimes mischevious filmmaking and acting careers. His late Nineties role in Three Kings is a side of Spike you must see. He also played Doug Whitney in the first two seasons of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret and himself in Jackass.
Spike currently works as executive producer on many VICELAND series, including Gaycation, WOMAN with Gloria Steinem, the Vice Guide to Film, and Nirvanna the Band the Show.
